Alice Layman is Organist and Choir Director at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Ivy and is an active accompanist in Charlottesville.  She is a member of the American Guild of Organists and of the Choral Directors Association. Alice graduated from Hollins College in 1974 with a major in music (organ performance); she studied organ there with Dr. James Leland. In 1977, she received a Masters of Music degree (organ performance) from the University of Kentucky; her teacher was Dr. Arnold Blackburn. Subsequently, she studied with Bruce Stevens and Richard McPherson.  Alice teaches music in the St. Anne's Belfield Lower School.
